EMM appoints regulatory approvals specialist

We are thrilled to announce the senior appointment of Michelle Veney as Associate Director

Michelle brings to EMM her technical and strategic insights from a demonstrated history of working in the energy industry and specialisation in planning and environmental law.

Most recently Michelle worked for Snowy Hydro Limited advising the operations business on development, operational and compliance matters for assets located across three States. Since 2017, she was an integral part of the team that obtained the planning and environmental approvals for the Snowy 2.0 pumped hydro project from the feasibility study, through to project commencement. The largest renewable energy project in Australia with complex regulatory frameworks, Michelle worked with the team to provide strategic and solution-focused thinking, identify risks and liaise with government departments.

Prior to her time with Snowy Hydro, Michelle worked on a range of environmental and planning matters across industrial, utility and residential developments at national law firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

EMM Director Duncan Peake welcomes Michelle’s commercial and industry experience obtained across a portfolio of projects.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michelle to our expanding national environmental approvals team. Her legal background brings an understanding of the need for robust and defensible processes for projects and, combined with a comprehensive understanding of the Energy sector, will add significant value and insights to our clients. In her role as Associate Director, Michelle will leverage her expertise and experience to provide our clients with clear advice on how their projects can navigate through the legislative environment.”

This senior appointment is in line with the company’s execution of its strategy to strengthen and diversify environmental planning expertise in the renewable energy sector.  The integrated EMM team provides cradle to grave environmental and stakeholder engagement support from the prefeasibility, design, assessment, construction, operational and closure phases of projects.

Michelle holds a dual Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree.
