Our Community Hub

We are committed to building a legacy outside of our project work, that improves our environment and community, leaving it stronger for future generations.

This ethos is fully aligned with our purpose of creating opportunities. Through our pillars of altruism; health and wellbeing; sustainability; and reconciliation we empower our people to work with us to make a positive and lasting difference which we believe enriches the lives of our team and ultimately gives back to our community now and into the future.

Find out how our people are working to make a positive and lasting difference.

ALTRUISM

Creating opportunities for tomorrow's future

The selfless concern for the well-being of others.

Altruism brings more meaning to our lives and when we see people helping each other, it inspires us to do the same. At EMM, ‘creating opportunities’ is our purpose, and we therefore apply that in an altruistic setting within the broader community. As a work community, we want to use our professional platform to actively demonstrate real and authentic concern for others. Our team are given the opportunity to participate in initiatives and activities which leave a legacy. To successfully achieve this, we actively support and develop enduring relationships with regional small to medium enterprises particularly within the communities in which we operate. The importance of contributing beyond oneself has always been at the heart of EMM.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING

Being the 'best you' you can be

At the heart of our focus is the desire to give employees permission to take care of themselves.

We are committed to giving everyone the opportunity to have a healthy balance between their professional careers and responsibilities with their time with family, friends and their own personal physical and mental health needs. Rather than just delivering a ‘program’, we want to create and sustain a culture that emphasises the importance of the health and wellness of our people. The wellbeing message is embedded through our actions, behaviour and everyday conversations. We create opportunities for our people to take on personal challenges and participate in events that raise awareness for particular issues or causes that are important to us. This includes regular involvement in May 50k, Steptember, the Push Up Challenge, City2Surf and more. Taking part in these activities can create a sense of satisfaction for the individuals involved whilst also bringing our people together and contributing to organisations that support the health and wellbeing of our communities.

SUSTAINABILITY

Building a positive legacy for the future

We are passionate about sustainable development and the continued prevention and reduction of adverse environmental impacts, starting with ourselves.

At EMM, sustainability is not one single action, it is our constant focus on making sure that we balance the interdependencies of social, environmental and economic priorities for the benefit of all, including the generations that will follow us. In 2022, EMM met the requirements of the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard for Organisations and is certified as carbon neutral for our Australian operations. This standard provides best-practice guidance on how to measure, reduce, offset, validate and report emissions that occur as a result of our operations. We have an emissions reduction program that includes procurement plans, green office travel plans as well as a 30% reduction in our carbon footprint by FTEs by 2029. We seek to create a culture where sustainable choices are at the forefront of our minds when making decisions, big and small and commit to building a positive legacy for the future.

RECONCILIATION

Developing a mindset of respect and collaboration

Reconciliation means creating stronger respect-based relationships and supporting and creating platforms for First Nations people to have equity of opportunity both now and into the future.

For us, this means being part of that shared journey by educating ourselves and working in partnership with First Nations people to create more opportunities. EMM is a corporate member of Reconciliation Australia, an independent not-for-profit organisation which promotes and facilitates reconciliation by building relationships, respect and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through this association we are connected to resources, advice and support which strengthens the opportunity to educate, inform and engage with our team on our reconciliation journey. While we are finalising our Reflect level Reconciliation Action Plan with Reconciliation Australia, we are still committed to taking action. This includes supporting grass roots organisations to pursue events and programs, partnering with Aboriginal-owned companies and also creating opportunities to include Aboriginal interns in our project work.
