Project overview
Mining has occurred at the Rasp Mine site since the mid-1800s. Broken Hill Operations has operated the Rasp Mine since 2011, under a State significant development approval.

Rasp Mine is an underground mining operation with a surface processing facility that has average annual production of 22,000 tonnes of zinc, 11,000 tonnes of lead, and over 400,000 ounces of silver.

Rasp is a major employer in the Far West region of NSW and is a significant contributor to the local and regional economies.

Our involvement
EMM has assisted Broken Hill Operations with a range of services since 2021. The EMM Environmental Approvals team prepared the environmental assessments for two modifications to the mine’s project approval - Mod 9 in 2021 and Mod 10 in 2022 to makes changes to approved operational activities at the mine.

EMM’s land and rehabilitation team has also assisted with:
  • A detailed Waste Rock Management Strategy for the mine
  • A comprehensive Rehabilitation Strategy and Management Plan for the mine, which has included mine closure surface water assessment and modelling, groundwater assessment and modelling, landform erosion and design, and historical heritage integration with the final landform.
