Project overview
The Government of Vietnam is poised to amend its Law on Water Resources to set the water sector up to respond effectively to new and emerging challenges and to ensure water security into the future. As part of this process, there is a desire to look at policies and best practices from Australia and other jurisdictions, and how these might apply in the Vietnam context. The Department of Water Resources Management, within Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment is leading the amendment process.
Our involvement
EMM is working closely with Aither and the Australian Water Partnership leading the development of advice to the Government of Vietnam on water policy and legislation content. The team are leveraging our relevant advisory services and sharing our expertise in water governance, law and policy to enhance water security for Vietnam. The project includes reviewing the drafts of amendments to the Law, offering advice on regulatory tools and legislative drafting matters, and preparing a suit of policy papers relating to the possible application of Australian experience and approaches in the Vietnamese legal and administrative context.
