Project Description

Overview
EMM’s groundwater team investigated the source of low salinity water in a coal seam gas well using isotopes and fingerprinting. We used sophisticated isotope chemistry sampling and analysis techniques to determine the source of low salinity water. The investigation identified the source of the water was condensation inside the well’s headworks, and not from vertical leakage or overlying alluvial aquifers. The project included a 30-minute technical presentation to the community at a public meeting.
