Due to strong growth and a commitment to our team and our clients we are seeking to appoint an experienced senior to principal level soils specialist to join our national Land and Rehabilitation Team, based in either Sydney or Newcastle.

You will be part of a professional team working on a diverse range of rewarding projects for EMM clients across Australia. You will lead soil research and assessments across a range of industry sectors including mining, oil and gas, major construction and more. You will provide expert advice in support of key planning approvals and impact assessments, soil and land capability studies, disturbed land rehabilitation/restoration and work collaboratively with professionals in related fields (erosion and sediment control, contaminated land and geochemistry) where technical issues overlap.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and experienced professional with the following qualifications and experience:

  • tertiary degree qualifications in environmental and/or agricultural science, with a soil science specialisation;
  • possess Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS) or equivalent accreditation;
  • 15 plus years of professional industry experience within soils (experience in a consulting environment would be an advantage);
  • demonstrated project management experience on large and/or complex projects;
  • experienced in Biophysical Strategic Agricultural Land (BSAL), Land and Soil Capability (LSC) and Agricultural Land Classification (ALC) assessments;
  • experience in business development and developing / maintaining strong client relationships;
  • strong attention to detail including well-developed skills in the areas of QA/QC and technical report writing;
  • highly organised approach and the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines;
  • ability and willingness to work remotely and autonomously;
  • ability and willingness to travel interstate, as required
  • exceptional written and oral communication skills;
  • willingness to knowledge share with all team members;
  • a strong worth ethic; and
  • whose personal and professional values align with those of EMM.

Experience in soils assessment and management in the context of disturbed land rehabilitation and restoration will be highly regarded. The opportunity to fulfil the role working from EMM offices in Brisbane, Melbourne or Adelaide may be considered for the right candidate.
