The redevelopment of the RAAF base at East Sale in Victoria involved the design and construction of new accommodation, specialist training facilities and buildings for support services.
EMM provided architectural and building acoustic design services from master planning to detailed design stages of the project. Early in the master planning phase we measured existing aircraft noise levels at the site and established the noise exposure at proposed facilities. These data were used to refine the master plan layout and later informed the architectural acoustic design of the building envelope so it would meet Australian Standards.
During the design stages EMM continued to review, and advise on, matters such as external noise intrusion, internal noise transfer and control of reverberation and building services noise, with a continual focus on meeting relevant standards and building codes, and providing an acceptable acoustic environment for building occupants.
EMM consistently applied cost-effective and fit-for-purpose acoustic designs to the project, which began construction in 2013 and will be completed in 2015.
