EMM is proud to be playing a role in the planning and delivery of WestConnex, Australia’s largest road infrastructure project.
The NSW and Australian governments have embarked on a program to deliver a 33km motorway linking Sydney’s west and south- west with the city, airport and Port Botany.
Our Planning Services Manager, David Kelly, is currently seconded into the WestConnex Delivery Authority to manage the preparation of the Environmental Impact Study of the Stage 1 – M4 East component of the project. The M4 East project involves surface widening of the M4 motorway between Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road, construction of approximately 5km of two new three lane tunnels through to City West Link and Parramatta Road, Haberfield. David is working with a broader project team to ensure delivery of a robust and rigourous environmental assessment.
Our Senior Environmental Engineer, Nicole Hansen has been recently seconded into the WestConnex team to help develop and deliver the project’s: environmental and sustainability policy; environmental management systems (EMS); and environmental approvals. In 2012 the Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) developed the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Rating Tool. WestConnex has committed to attaining a Design and As-Built rating of ‘Excellent’ for the project. As an IS Accredited Professional, Nicole will work with the broader project team to help guide the sustainability rating process.
