To add further value to our clients, EMM has made it a priority to bring new talented team members into our NSW, Queensland and South Australian operations. Most recently, we’ve been expanding our ecology offerings by adding four new industry leaders.
These leaders are supported by a team of more than 20 talented ecologists.
Berlinda Ezzy has made her career working across nearly all aspects of state and local government, as well as in the private sector, for the past two decades. She’s given her valuable insight and expertise to a range of environmental disciplines, all while picking up a broad depth of knowledge on environmental matters along the way. Berlinda is also notable for being one of Queensland’s foremost experts in biodiversity offsets. She is a valued addition to EMM’s Brisbane office.
Dr. Steven Ward, a leader in the consulting sector and a new addition to EMM’s Sydney team. He comes to EMM as both an Associate Ecologist and as Infrastructure Sector Lead. Not only does Dr. Ward have a PhD in Koala ecology, but he’s also a recognized expert in this field. He’s managed and delivered impact assessments for some of NSW and Australia’s largest scale projects and has regularly achieved Commonwealth EPBC Act controlled action approvals and delivery of offsets time and time again throughout his storied career.
Brooke Hay joins EMM Adelaide bringing with her ~15 years’ experience in ecology and environmental management within the mining and government sectors. She specialises in the assessment of invertebrates, vertebrates and riparian vegetation from freshwater, estuarine and saline ecosystems, as well as undertaking ecotoxicology investigations, environmental impact assessment, compliance monitoring, and the establishment of ecological key performance indicators. Brooke’s career has been varied, ranging from implementing programs for the assessment of waterbodies impacted by resource development to providing high level, practical management advice on aquatic and vertebrate fauna, rehabilitation monitoring, and terrestrial flora assessments.
Last but not least we have, another addition to the EMM Brisbane office is Darren Maxwell, who also brings more than two decades of experience in flora ecology, restoration and environmental regulatory compliance to his role as an Associate Ecologist. He has exceptional skills in vegetation mapping, restoration design and planning, conducting protected plant surveys and much, much more. He also brings with him a massive amount of experience in the mining, oil and gas sectors.
“With these appointments, EMM is truly excited about the ways in which we’ll be able to expand our existing ecology service offering. They bring with them a wealth of exciting experience and complementary expertise to the business, and they will all create exciting opportunities for our clients and our team for years to come.”
